"Threads" by Richard Dinges

Threads

Eyesight a blurred
prison, she watches
a thin thread in
the needle’s eye in
this child’s narrow
fingers, a long line
held taut between
her own grandmother’s
hand, through her
fingertips, and now
borrowed anew
in her bright gaze
and smile at
learning to sew.
